Geological Museum > Collections
Although hundreds of rocks, minerals and fossils are on display at the Geological Museum, they literally only represent the 'tip of the iceberg'. Most of the museum's material is kept in the collections, deep within the basement.
Here are thousands of minerals, rocks and fossils, which the museum has acquired on expeditions, through purchase or exchange. The specimens are used in research by scientists from home and abroad, for educational purposes or in new exhibitions.
The oldest specimens date from the 17th century, and new ones are continually added as expeditions return from the four corners of the world.
