The Collection of Dynamic GeologyThe Collection of Dynamic Geology comprises specimens representing exogene and endogene geology: volcanism, metamorphosis, diagenesis, weathering, tectonic processes, etc. A special collection of historical instruments comprises e.g. early goniometres (Wollaston, Brunner, Mitscherlich, Stoe, Meyerstein), refractometres (Abbé), Appareil de Nörrenberg, Appareil de Soleil, Appareil de Meunier-Chalmas, blow-pipes, aerometres, scales, cameras, microscopes etc. All instruments in the collection have been in use at the Geological Museum. On the photo on the left is shown a fulgurite (a "fossil" flash of lightning"). The fulgurite is from a gravel pit at Herning in Jutland. As the flash of lightning struck the ground, the gravel melted from the surface and 40 cm down into the deposit.

"Fossil earthquake". Slickensides on an ore-bearing gneiss from a Precambrian gneiss massif. The slickensides form when the violent movements of the earthquake polish the host rock masses fractured by the quake. |

Volcanic bomb. An explosion in the crater ejects masses of unconsolidated magma into the air and preserves the spinning movement of the melt as it is quenched by contact with the air. |
