Evolution of Man

This exhibition sheds light on our own evolution from ape to Man, and many of the important steps toward the origin of modern humans. When did Man begin to use tools? When and how was fire tamed? When did language originate? And religion?

Through the fossil remains and tools of our distant ancestors, the exhibition tries to answer these fundamental questions in the history of mankind. Stand face to face with an extremely life-like reconstruction of the Peking Man; a distant, 300,000 year-old relative of ours.

Also on exhibit are skeletons and fossil remains of animals which were contemporaries of Man during the ice ages: the cave bear, woolly rhinoceros, sabre-toothed cat and woolly mammoth.
