Art in the Geological Museum

The Geological Museum has two rotundas, one of which was decorated by Oscar Matthiesen approx. 100 years ago. The other rotunda was painted by the artist Per Kirkeby who originally was educated as a geologist. Therefore he had a special interest in the task of decorating the second rotunda. The decoration was completed in 2004 and it portrays the raw geology and is a modern equivalent to Oscar Matthiesen's scientific worldview. Both rotundas are two storeys high.
